at random

in my relatively defunct old hotmail account i found an email containing the following poem by rumi.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there’s a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase, ‘each other’,
doesn’t make any sense.”

such beautiful words to be found at complete random… i don’t even remember why i was checking that email account. i’m far too tired to surmise what rumi really meant. perhaps just that beyond the surface of the world there exists a place where all our earthly things cease to have understanding. is our world too full of meaningless ideas?

i’d like to find rumi’s field.

btw, for more on rumi go here.

and on a lighter note, continuing the random…
